Our Summer Associate program gives first
and second year students a special opportunity to contribute
to the firm's practice and to become acquainted with
the private practice of law. Projects involve a variety
of theoretical, practical and educational experiences.
Summer Associates are assigned for successive three week
periods to work with different groups of partners and
associates with diverse practices and backgrounds.
Many recent law school graduates have elected to begin
their practice in a specific area and the firm attempts
to accommodate associates' preferences in this regard.
While all recently hired associates remain available
for assignments as the firm's needs require, each associate's
individual interests are taken into consideration to
the greatest extent possible.
Orientation occurs formally and informally. A senior
associate will serve as a mentor.
The Associates Committee is responsible for evaluating
an associate's performance and growth toward partnership,
and communicating information about the firm and new
developments. The Chairman of the Associates Committee
oversees policy issues and specific associate matters.
The St. Louis office hiring decisions are made primarily
