Armstrong Teasdale's summer program allows bright,
talented law students to study the firm to witness
the character of our practice and people. It also permits
us to see these students in action—to assess
intellect and character through first-hand experience
as colleagues. We treat our summer associates as professionals.
Another unique attribute of Armstrong Teasdale's summer
associate program is the fact that we accept both 1Ls
and 2Ls. Interested 1Ls should apply immediately after
December 1.
Our Summer Associate Program gives first- and second-year
students a special opportunity to contribute to the
firm's practice and to become acquainted with the private
practice of law.
Organization
The Summer Associate Program generally lasts ten weeks.
Summer associates are assigned successive three to
four week periods
to work with different groups of partners
and associates with diverse practices and backgrounds.
This process gives the summer associates a broader
experience and allows them to work with a variety of
attorneys. Summer associates are also given the opportunity
to devote a significant amount of their time working
in their specific areas of interest.
In addition to the rotations, summer associates are
also provided with a partner-mentor and an associate-advisor
who provide guidance and assistance to them throughout
the program. They receive frequent and thorough feedback,
at periodic reviews and on individual assignments.
Summer Activities
Summer associates also enjoy a full slate of social
activities that allow them to get to know our attorneys
in relaxed settings.
Compensation
Summer associate's salaries are competitive with other
large area firms.
Hiring
Process
The St. Louis office hiring decisions are made primarily
by a Hiring Committee composed of partners and associates,
presently chaired by Partner Byron
Francis. However,
many partners and associates assist the Committee in
evaluating candidates and in helping candidates learn
more about the firm.
