Mendez has been selected as a recipient of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) 2017 Top Lawyers Under 40 Award. The awards honors attorneys for their professional achievements in the legal field combined with an exceptional commitment to serve the Hispanic community.
Mendez counsels brand owners in matters involving trademark selection, clearance, registration and enforcement. In intellectual property litigation matters, Mendez represents clients in disputes involving infringement of patents, copyrights, trademarks and trade secrets pending in state, federal and appellate courts throughout the United States. Her clients range in size from startups to Fortune 100 companies.
Recently she received the Women’s Justice Rising Star Award from Missouri Lawyers Weekly. The award recognizes women who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, sacrifice and accomplishment, and exemplify the highest ideals of the legal profession. She has also been recognized as one of the top Intellectual Property attorneys in Missouri and Kansas by Super Lawyers®, and was named to the St. Louis Business Journal’s “30 under 30” class in 2014.
Mendez is actively involved in both the legal and Hispanic communities by serving as a member of the HNBA finance committee, president emeritus of the Hispanic Bar Association of St. Louis; general counsel for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis; immediate past-chair of the Young Lawyers Division for the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis; and a volunteer for Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts and the Hispanic Educational, Cultural, and Scholarship Fund, which raises money for college scholarships for Hispanic high school students.
Admitted to practice in Missouri and Illinois, Mendez received her LL.M. in intellectual property and J.D. from Washington University School of Law. She earned her B.A. in political science and english, cum laude, from Boston University. Mendez is based in the firm’s St. Louis office.
