Armstrong Teasdale LLP's Marine Product Liability division is an integral part of the firm's Fire & Explosion Group. The members represent marine manufacturers across all product lines in the recreational boating industry. The firm has represented marine manufacturers in relation to gas tanks, batteries, bilge pumps, carbon monoxide, onboard generators, wiring systems and shore power cables as well as warranty claims for defective marine parts.
Through its litigation experience, the firm has forged relationships with top marine industry experts that have investigated numerous claims and are specifically trained as marine fire cause-and-origin experts. Many of the experts are either current or former committee members of NFPA, BIRMC, and ABYC and have prior experience in product design and manufacturing. These experts, together with the members of our defense team, can effectively, efficiently and vigorously defend against claims of product defect throughout the Midwest.
In addition, one of our lawyers is on the NFPA 921 Marine Fire Investigation Task Force, charged with creating the first NFPA chapter devoted solely to marine fire investigation. Our lawyers are familiar with NFPA 921 investigation practices and procedures and how ABYC standards apply to marine manufacturers in the recreational boating industry. We are regular participants at the Boating Industry Risk Management Council to keep abreast of emerging issues for marine manufactures. We also have participated in the BIRMC subcommittees dealing with the standardization of warnings for recreational boats.
As a Missouri-based law firm, uniquely situated close to the Lake of the Ozarks, the firm has also represented marinas in fire and explosion cases and boaters in more traditional negligent operation cases. The practice group members have tried numerous cases to verdict throughout the Midwest.
