Immigration

The Immigration practice group provides a full range of immigration services to corporate and individual clients. The immigration lawyers represent corporate clients in a wide array of immigration-related issues, including planning for and obtaining temporary visas and permanent residence status for their employees. For example, corporate clients are assisted with obtaining temporary nonimmigrant work visas such as:

• Specialty Occupation (H-1B)
• Intra-Company Transferrees (L)
• Visas pursuant to the North American Free Trade Agreement (TN)
• Treaty-Trader (E)
• Seasonal Workers (H2)
• Trainees (H3)

In addition, the Immigration practice group has extensive experience in obtaining U.S. permanent residence status for corporate clients on behalf of their employees. This is accomplished by obtaining labor certification from the Department of Labor or petitioning the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service to classify individuals as either outstanding researchers, individuals with extraordinary ability, or as multinational executives or managers.

The immigration lawyers also represent corporate clients on workplace compliance issues, including I-9 issues as well as audits conducted by the USCIS and the Department of Labor. The Immigration practice group also assists corporate clients involved in mergers and acquisitions to ensure that the foreign employees involved in a corporate reorganization maintain their immigration status.

Through Armstrong Teasdale’s membership in Lex Mundi the Immigration practice group also assists corporate clients on a variety of outbound immigration matters. Lex Mundi is an organization of independent law firms providing for the exchange of professional information about the local and global practice and development of law. The Immigration practice group assists corporate clients seeking to transfer abroad employees who are either United States citizens or citizens of other countries residing in the United States by securing appropriate work and travel documents.

In addition, the immigration lawyers provide services to individuals on a variety of issues pertaining to permanent residence status through the marriage to U.S. citizens, fiancé visas, travel, work authorization documents, and naturalization and citizenship processing.
