He represents clients in M&A transactions, import and export transactions, establishing distribution relationships and in making direct foreign investments. He has represented several U.S. clients in acquiring European and Asian businesses.
A.J. is a member of the firm’s Real Estate practice group and has provided representation in the areas of design and construction contracts, real estate acquisitions, leasing and land use planning.

Prior to joining the firm, A.J. practiced architecture with the firms of Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum and Hastings and Chivetta Architects.
Completion of M&A transactions totaling more that $1 billion in various industries including real estate services, beverages, food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, advertising services, process control manufacturing and technology services.
Representation of private equity portfolio of ten companies located in countries throughout Europe and Asia. Served as general counsel to the holding company and led the legal team responsible for managing day-to-day legal affairs of the portfolio companies and the deal teams responsible for the eventual sale of each company.
More than 15 years of continuous experience handling China related matters including direct foreign investments, manufacturing arrangements, intellectual property protection and M&A in China.
Established Armstrong Teasdale’s business consulting subsidiary, China Alliance Business Consulting Group, and has developed strategic business plans and provided other consultative services for companies such as Smurfit-Stone, Abbott Labs, Color Art, Monsanto, AMCHAM China and Vision Council of America.
