Terri Lynch obtained a defense verdict on behalf of our client Long Elevator & Machine Co. in a negligent installation case involving a freight elevator car gate (inner door) that Long had installed at Anheuser-Busch. The plaintiff claimed he was injured when he was struck in the head by the closing gate and alleged that the gate’s warning siren and light were not functioning. The plaintiff, who claimed he was forced to retire five years earlier than planned, asked the jury for $730,000 and in addition, his wife sought damages for lack of consortium. The jury was out for only 25 minutes before returning a defense verdict on July 20, 2011.
