Doug Kurdziel engages in a variety of complex litigation matters—mainly eminent domain issues and construction and business disputes. Having spent substantial time in the counseling area, he is a seasoned mediator, bringing an interesting perspective to the table when advising clients in the development of case strategies and when analyzing factors that make good business sense.

Representing municipalities, utility service providers, property owners and other condemning authorities, Doug counsels regarding eminent domain procedures. He guides through title examinations, negotiations, land acquisitions, contested litigation, defense of inverse condemnation claims and confirmation of indefeasible title.

Doug has participated in more than 28 eminent domain cases in the last seven years, including a $4 million settlement for a landowner in Henderson, Nevada. He has handled matters such as the installation of a natural gas pipeline in Nevada and the taking of rights-of-way easements for rural power companies to install and maintain new transmissions lines. Recently, Doug argued an eminent domain case (V&S Railway, Inc. v. City of Ely, et al.) before the enbanc Nevada Supreme Court.
Within the construction arena, Doug resolves title issues, construction disputes, breaches of contract, mechanics’ liens and lien foreclosures, partition disputes, licenses, easements and indentures. For small businesses, shareholders or officers, he assists with business disputes, usually involving contracts. He often reviews corporate formalities and advises on compliance and risk.

Doug is heavily involved in pro bono activities for the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, a non-profit organization that assists abused and neglected children.
