How Will Health Care Reform Affect You?

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act signed into law on March 23 aims to expand insurance coverage to over 30 million people by boosting the number of Medicaid recipients, mandating that Americans buy health care and subsidizing private coverage for low- and middle-income people.

Including the companion reconciliation bill which passed the House of Representatives on March 21, the estimated health care reform will cost the government about $938 billion over 10 years. Where will the money come from?

Part of the answer is new or increased taxes. Although these taxes will not take effect right away, now is the time to start planning.

Armstrong Teasdale tax attorneys are here to help.
