Just when I thought I had the family-work routine figured out, this past summer I was blessed to welcome child number two into the world. After 12 wonderful weeks at home with the little ones (a three year old and a three month old), I began making plans to return to work full time. In short, it has not been easy.
Whether you work full time, telecommute from home or are taking a career break to raise your children—balance between career and family is often difficult. In today's environment, many mothers (and fathers) struggle to find the right balance between advancing in their career and spending quality time nurturing their relationship with their children. Add to the mix the many days spent home with sick kids as they continue to work out their little immune systems—it can be downright chaotic and the stress can seem insurmountable.
After reading hundreds of parenting articles and "working mom" blogs, I found a few pieces of advice that surface in all of them. They may seem like simple concepts, but for some reason I am not currently applying them in my daily life and found them to be good reminders.
