Lance Maiss practices in the firm’s Business Litigation and Business Services practice groups. He serves clients ranging from small privately-owned businesses to publicly-traded companies in matters relating to commercial and employment litigation, business services and government relations. His multifaceted experience enables him to strategically counsel in the boardroom or the courtroom.
Business Litigation. When representing owners, Lance addresses disputes that may arise during start-up and/or operation. Those disputes may include contractual and tort claims such as breach of contract or fiduciary duty; fraud; corporate, partnership and joint venture dissolutions and employment matters involving claims of discrimination and wrongful termination.
Business Services. Lance advises companies regarding entity structure, expansion, restructuring, succession planning and governance to help owners increase value, solve problems and alleviate risk. He often serves as outside general counsel, providing guidance with day-to-day business concerns.
Government Relations. Working with municipalities, Lance assists with daily operations and in resolving unexpected problems. With an understanding of the ordinances, regulations, bylaws and decisions that govern a municipality, he aids in a broad range of issues including improvement and public works projects, annexations, eminent domain, contracts, employment, financing, public lawsuits and civil rights claims.
Lance is a member of the State Bar of Nevada’s disciplinary board, a state appointed foreclosure mediator and a Nevada State Court appointed arbitrator. His legal experience extends to insurance defense and insurance coverage work.
