Pam Giss is a member of the firm’s International practice group and is based in the Shanghai office. She concentrates her practice on assisting western-based companies seeking to do business in China. In this capacity, she assists in structuring mergers and acquisitions, establishing wholly foreign-owned enterprises, foreign invested commercial enterprises and representative offices, as well as consulting with clients on issues such as employment law, land use, general corporate matters, repatriation of profits, distribution agreements and taxation matters.

Pam also serves as the Chief Representative of the China Alliance, a collaboration of four leading independent law firms in response to the increasing importance of China to the global marketplace and to North American businesses.

Background

Prior to relocating to Shanghai, Pam was a member of the Real Estate Development and Municipal Finance Practice Groups where she focused on public-private development projects involving a variety of tax incentives. In connection with this work, she structured, negotiated and documented redevelopment agreements, sales tax rebate agreements, acquisition, sale and lease agreements and assisted clients with parcel assemblage through eminent domain, where necessary.
