Richard Campbell, managing partner for the Nevada offices, serves as lead trial counsel in commercial, construction and employment matters. He litigates cases in federal court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and in state courts throughout the State of Nevada.
For public utilities, municipalities, governments, developers, gaming companies and various small to large businesses, Rick advices regarding regulatory compliance, including licensing, environmental permitting, bid protests, water rights and utility rate matters. For many of these cases, he regularly appears before government agencies, such as the Nevada State Engineers and the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada.
At the federal, state and local levels, Rick eagerly addresses legislative and administrative matters and counsels local governments on municipal law. As Town Attorney for the Town of Pahrump, he advises officials on legal issues and drafts legislation. Rick also handles the various complexities of municipal representation including land use and zoning, real estate and transactional law, as well as personnel and employment matters.
Within the construction industry, Rick’s counsel often pertains to contract and other disputes involving project delays and disruptions, cost overruns, defective design, OSHA issues, and construction and mechanic’s liens. He has been lead counsel for the State of Nevada Public Works Board on several construction delay and construction defect cases and is currently representing Carson City in a construction delay case.
Rick has practiced water law in Nevada for the major part of his legal career. He has appeared before the state engineer on numerous occasions in contested hearings as well as representing clients on water matters in state and federal court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, before local governments and water districts and at the Nevada Legislature.
Specific to employment litigation, Rick represents those in the gaming industry in employment matters including Sarbanes Oxley whistleblower cases.
