As leader of the Health Care practice group, Bob Schwendinger provides strategic advice and legal representation for hospitals, physician groups, providers and both for-profit and nonprofit corporations. Often he acts as outside general counsel, guiding the legal compliance efforts of an organization.

For a broad range of health care providers, Bob advises regarding fraud and abuse and regulatory and compliance issues. Knowledgeable in the intricacies of the industry, he regularly counsels on federal and state investigations and self-disclosures pertaining to the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback, Stark Law and quality of care.

Bob keeps current on trends such as health reform, accountable care organizations, co-management service line arrangements and hospital/physician arrangements. In addition to helping ensure transactions fit into Stark and anti-kickback exceptions and safe harbors, he aids with managed care contracting, physician recruitment, practice formation and/or restructuring, and management and compensation arrangements including wRVU compensation.

Manufacturers, distributors and sellers of medical device and supplies and products look to Bob for guidance to accurately code and bill in compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations.

In his role as general counsel, Bob provides health care businesses with practical advice on general corporate issues, including HIPAA compliance, contracts, agreements, joint ventures, sales, executive compensation, real estate, securities, financing, employment, and federal and state regulatory compliance. He aids in developing strategies to improve operations and minimize risks.

Bob is also experienced in matters involving health care non-compete and trade secrets, tax exempt financing, conflicts of interest, economic credentialing, ethics, corporate governance and general corporate issues.
