Armstrong Teasdale attorneys M. Quinn Murphy of St. Louis and Jo Leigh W. Fischer and Darren K. Sharp, both of Kansas City, have been chosen by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as 2011 “Up & Coming” lawyers.
To be selected for the “Up & Coming” list, an attorney must be 40 years old or younger or practiced law for 10 or fewer years. The lawyer must also be a high achiever who epitomizes excellence in the legal community and a leader in the community-at-large.
Murphy has distinguished himself at Armstrong Teasdale and in the St. Louis legal community as both a skilled commercial litigator in high-stake cases and as an outside counsel to a growing number of corporate clients who trust his insight and practical advice. He is an advocate for those in need, providing many hours of pro bono services to the homeless and the blind.
In 2002, Murphy received his J.D., cum laude, from Saint Louis University School of Law, where he served as the lead articles editor and a staff member at the Saint Louis University Law Journal. He was also a moot court champion. Murphy received his M.B.A. in 1998 and B.A. in psychology and business administration in 1996, both from Drury University.
Fischer is an experienced litigator who represents manufacturers of products and gas and insurance companies in all aspects of explosion, fire and electrocution litigation, including products liability, class actions, trials and appeals. She is one of only a handful of certified instructors for the Department of Homeland Security at the National Fire Academy and has taught classes for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, Kansas City Arson Task Force, Kansas City Metropolitan Insurance Fraud Task Force and the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law.
Fischer received her J.D. in 1997 from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law. She received her B.S. in criminal justice and English from Central Missouri State University, now known as University of Central Missouri, where she received the G.E. “Bill” Davila Award, and graduated from the Honors Program.
Sharp is a persuasive business litigator as well as a skilled appellate lawyer and negotiator in four states. He has won significant victories for our clients, many of whom are high-profile corporations, financial institutions and insurance companies Sharp’s outstanding abilities led him to be recognized as a 2010 “Missouri/Kansas Rising Star.”
Sharp received his J.D. with high honors in 1997 from Drake University Law School, where he served as the projects editor for the Drake Law Review. Sharp also won the CALI Award for Constitutional Litigation. In 1994, he received his B.A., magna cum laude, from Colorado State University.
