Representing Clients in Missouri’s New Medical Marijuana Industry
When Missourians voted overwhelmingly to become the 33rd medical marijuana state, they launched an entirely new, highly regulated commercial industry consisting of agricultural, light manufacturing and retail components. While bar associations and most reasonable people agree that the industry’s highly regulated nature cries out for the professional advice and assistance of attorneys, the industry’s federal illegality creates a host of ethical and other challenges. This three-part seminar will analyze the industry’s national and local development over time, various ethical considerations related to representing clients operating in this space, and the complex and competitive process used to award facility licenses.
