Dione Greene is a trial lawyer recognized as a Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyer Rising Star. He has extensive experience trying employment cases in both federal and state courts and representing clients at the appellate level. He further defends clients investigated by federal and state agencies. In addition to employment matters, Dione represents clients in franchise, insurance and federal criminal defense matters. Prior to joining the firm, Dione clerked for Judge Duane Benton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.
Working with Fortune 500 companies, school districts, small businesses, government officials and individuals, Dione defends cases and internally investigates allegations of unlawful conduct, including harassment, discrimination and retaliation. He has obtained many victories as lead counsel in federal and state courts.
As lead counsel, he recently tried a case before a jury in Kansas federal court on behalf of a Fortune 500 employer accused of age discrimination and retaliation. After the parties’ opening statements, direct and cross-examination of nearly 20 witnesses, the court entered a directed verdict for the company. Dione also recently won an appeal before the Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. Dione also persuaded a federal agency to drop a Family and Medical Leave Act investigation against a Fortune 500 company. He has obtained multiple dismissals of lawsuits against mid-size and small businesses, provided training seminars on preventing harassment, discrimination and retaliation, and has advised employers on how to prevent legal claims.
Dione represents franchisors as both plaintiffs and defendants. As plaintiff’s counsel, he files suit and seeks recovery of damages for trademark infringement and breaches under franchise agreements.
He further enforces judgments obtained and assists clients in recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Dione also defends franchisors against various allegations including vicarious liability and breach of contract.
For insurance companies and their clients, Dione resolves, and litigates if necessary, a variety of matters related to coverage disputes and denial, policy violation, refusal to pay, interpleader actions and ERISA claims.
Dione has served as lead counsel in obtaining favorable dispositive rulings on insurance matters, including Employment Retirement Income Security Act claims.
As a member of the litigation practice group, Dione represents clients in federal government investigations and prosecutions arising out of a variety of circumstances. Specifically, he has defended clients facing harsh federal penalties, including cases involving allegations of money laundering, firearms and conspiracy.
