St. Louis Litigation Attorney Receives 2017 Up & Coming Award

August 28, 2017 Press Releases

Armstrong Teasdale, a law firm with offices across the United States, proudly announces that Litigation associate Jeremy M. Brenner has been named to Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s Up & Coming class of 2017.

The Up & Coming Awards specifically acknowledge lawyers who are 40 or younger or who are within their first 10 years of practice. Honorees are selected each year based on their demonstration of excellence and their potential to make a difference in the legal profession and their communities.

“Jeremy’s professional and community accomplishments are impressive,” said Matt Reh, partner and Litigation practice group leader. “He is a smart litigator and leader, and is deserving of this recognition. I look forward to watching Jeremy’s continued success.”

Brenner has spent nearly a decade, first as an HR consultant and then as an employment attorney, counseling and representing employers and managers nationwide in both avoiding and defending all types of issues involving current and former employees, such as state and federal claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, harassment, and ADA and FMLA violations. Brenner co-leads the firm’s wage and hour/FLSA practice area, and has significant experience handling FLSA and state law wage and hour matters, having successfully litigated a number of misclassification, overtime, and minimum wage collective and class actions. Brenner frequently represents employers in administrative agency proceedings, including handling charges filed with the EEOC and equivalent state agencies and the National Labor Relations Board, as well as wage and hour investigations conducted by the Department of Labor.

Adept at protecting businesses from internal competitive threats, Brenner has extensive experience with noncompete, nonsolicitation and trade secret law. He has a demonstrated track record of winning noncompete litigation in state and federal courts, having obtained numerous temporary restraining orders, preliminary and permanent injunctions, and several significant damages awards.

In addition to representing some of the region’s largest employers, Brenner regularly counsels small and emerging businesses on the formation and implementation of workplace policies, documents and procedures. He also serves as pro bono outside counsel to four non-profit organizations that focus on improving the lives of children and families.

Brenner writes and speaks extensively on employment law and other HR topics. He is co-editor of the Missouri Employment Law Letter, a monthly publication for Missouri HR professionals, and is a national lecturer on employment law for Surgent Professional Education. Since 2014, Brenner has been named a Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers® Rising Star in Labor & Employment Law. He was also recognized by The Missouri Bar for inclusion in the 2011 and 2015 "Pro Bono Wall of Fame."

Brenner is a member of Armstrong Teasdale’s Associates Committee and Inclusion Committee, and oversees the firm’s onboarding programs for first-year lawyers and lateral associates. He is a member of The Missouri Bar and previously served on the Business Partner Relations Committee for the Human Resource Management Association of St. Louis. He is also actively involved with a number of community organizations including the University City Children’s Center (Board of Directors, 2015-Present; Board Secretary and Executive Committee Member, 2016-Present); Anti-Defamation League Glass Leadership Institute (Class of 2012-2013); St. Louis Hillel at Washington University (Board of Directors, 2012-2015).

Brenner earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri School of Law and B.S. in business administration from Olin Business School at Washington University. He is admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Central District of Illinois and the Western and Eastern Districts of Missouri. Brenner is based in the firm’s St. Louis office.
