Assisted investor client with the acquisition of several low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) portfolios from large institutional lenders. This resulted in the successful transfer of over 30 existing LIHTC partnerships worth in excess of $100 million.

Co-drafted proposed State legislation to be inserted into the Texas Government Code permitting the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs to consider Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Applications for inclusion in the State’s 2015 Qualified Allocation Plan At Risk Set-Aside to assist a large State Housing Authority client with its Public Housing portfolio conversion.

Drafted Proposed Legislation Related to Affordable Housing Projects

Drafted proposed national legislation directing the HUD Commissioner to grant a waiver to affordable housing projects extending bond maturity dates outside the safe-harbor period for tax-exempt bond-financed projects covered within a Louisiana Major Disaster Declaration.

Successful Resolution of Compliance Issues Related to Lease Agreement

Assisted a client general partner in the successful resolution of compliance issues and subsequent eligible basis reduction stemming from a project’s lease agreement with an adult day-care provider incorrectly designed to mirror a Community Service Facility.

Representation of Clients in Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Projects

Assisted in representing numerous limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and nonprofit corporations from a multitude of states in successfully closing over twenty 9% and 4% low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) projects from inception to closing.
