Armstrong Teasdale Adds Lawyers Mamie Ling, James McConkey, Melanie King, Michael Xavier
Armstrong Teasdale announces the addition of Senior Associate Mamie Ling, Solicitor James McConkey, and Associates Melanie E. King and Michael Xavier. They are among more than 180 lawyers and staff professionals who have joined Armstrong Teasdale in 2022 alone.
Ling joins the firm’s Denver office and represents clients in a variety of industries through all phases of litigation, including investigations, discovery, trial, and post-trial procedures and appeals. Her experience includes working with clients in retail and hospitality, real estate, construction, transportation and public entities in matters involving contractual disputes, product liability, construction defect, governmental immunity and premises liability. She is also experienced at working on complex, high-profile cases.
McConkey is among the first cohorts in the U.K. to qualify as a solicitor through the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) route, a rigorous process that includes a two-stage examination assessment as well as degree prerequisite and qualifying work experience. He advises employers and employees on various contentious and non-contentious employment matters. McConkey has versatile experience dealing with a variety of employment law matters such as dismissals, redundancies, discrimination, contractual disputes, restrictive covenants and employment litigation. He acts for both employers and employees across all industries, with a particular focus on the education sector. He was a paralegal at Armstrong Teasdale prior to qualifying as a solicitor.
King is a member of the Intellectual Property practice group in St. Louis and is skilled at in-depth legal research and analysis, document review and writing motions. With a background in public health and government, she has experience creating and implementing community health initiatives, as well as conducting legal research on changes to health law policies and their potential effects on future litigation.
Xavier is a member of the Litigation group in Denver and has experience in a wide variety of complex commercial and intellectual property matters. He has represented a diverse range of clients, each with unique legal and business goals, from both claimant and defendant perspectives. Xavier’s experience includes several appearances in multiple jurisdictions, in both state and federal court. He has advised clients as to general litigation, intellectual property, trade secrets, commercial litigation, employment, bankruptcy and real property. In addition to representing clients in formal lawsuits, Xavier has also advised clients in due diligence and other out-of-suit operations, with the goal of reducing risk while pursuing business goals. He is based in the firm’s Denver office.
