Armstrong Teasdale Among St. Louis Area’s 2014 ‘Healthiest Employers’
Armstrong Teasdale LLP will be recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the healthiest employers in St. Louis for companies with 500-1,499 employees during an awards dinner on October 30 and profiled in the paper on October 31. The Healthiest Employer awards highlight organizations that commit to making wellness a priority and proactively shape the health of their employees.
Armstrong Teasdale offers employees a variety of tools and programs firmwide to help maintain good health and well-being for themselves and their families. The wellness program at Armstrong Teasdale combines The HeartbeAT, an initiative to help employees improve and maintain their health, and access to the CenKare Family Health Center, a worksite medical clinic that offers a variety of services at no cost to employees.
The HeartbeAT initiative is a holistic approach to wellness that addresses fitness, nutrition, stress management, smoking cessation, ergonomics, lifestyle and other related areas. The program is designed on a point system in which employees can earn rewards based on sustained involvement in a variety of activities. These include exercise-based challenges including the AT Wellness Race consisting of a one mile run/walk and a 5k run. The program also offers many educational opportunities for employees who have physical limitations.
The initiative, in cooperation with St. Luke’s Hospital, provides an online dashboard that allows participants in all offices to privately record their progress and accomplishments. As part of these efforts, employees are offered Fitbit devices to track daily activity. All employees are given the opportunity to participate in a health survey and free worksite biometric screenings.
The other component of the wellness program is the CenKare Family Health Center, which is located in the same Centene office complex as the St. Louis headquarters. The center has a doctor, nurse practitioner and medical assistant on staff. The medical professionals provide treatment of common illnesses and injuries, emergency and urgent care, physicals, blood and other types of testing and certain vaccinations.
