Attorneys Rachel Orr, Ebonie Davis Named to Law Organization Leadership Roles
Rachel Orr and Ebonie Davis, attorneys in Armstrong Teasdale’s Kansas City office, have been elected to leadership positions at organizations serving the Kansas City legal professional community. Orr was elected was elected president of KC LEGAL, and Davis was elected president of the Jackson County Bar Association (JCBA).
KC LEGAL is a nonprofit bar association committed to promoting and supporting the advancement of LGBTQ rights and uniting those within the Kansas City community who advocate for equality and justice. Orr has been active with the organization for a number of years and previously served as secretary and vice president.
JCBA is a voluntary bar association comprised primarily of African-American attorneys from throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. JCBA was established at a time when African-American lawyers were not allowed to join the American Bar Association (ABA) or the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA). Davis previously served as JCBA’s vice president and chair of the Education Committee.
In her practice, Orr focuses primarily on all aspects of real estate development and capital financing transactions, including both taxable and tax-exempt offerings of bonds and other securities. She counsels companies, banks, municipalities and other organizations throughout the financing process and handles due diligence matters, IRS filings and tax controversy.
Davis primarily representing clients in real estate transactions involving a wide variety of financing methods. Skilled in negotiation, she is adept at reviewing leases, contract agreements and loan documents, and also has in-depth experience handling transactions that involve bond financing and low-income housing tax credit financing.
