Chuck Steese, Doug Marsh Earn Burton Award for Personal Jurisdiction Article

March 16, 2020 Firm News

Denver Partners Chuck Steese and Doug Marsh co-authored an article for the Association of Corporate Counsel’s Colorado newsletter, regarding recent Supreme Court decisions limiting the scope of personal jurisdiction over corporations. The article, “Home is Where You’re Incorporated: The Supreme Court Limits Forum Shopping,” was selected for a 2020 Law360 Distinguished Legal Writing Award, a prominent recognition from The Burton Awards.

The Burton Awards program is run in association with the Library of Congress, and the article was selected among those submitted by the nation’s most prestigious and largest law firms.

Steese is a partner in the firm’s Litigation practice group. He has successfully tried dozens of complex commercial, telecommunications and intellectual property disputes in courts and before regulatory bodies across the United States. His cases often involve parallel, multi-district litigation and regulatory or other proceedings, and he has been ranked among the top Commercial Litigators in the country by Chambers USA and SuperLawyers®.

Marsh focuses on complex commercial litigation and appeals, and has litigated cases across the country in state and federal court at both the trial and appellate levels. He has unique experience in the telecommunications industry as well as in bankruptcy court proceedings. In the telecom space, he has handled a number of matters rising from violations of state and federal tariffs, and in numerous instances secured favorable outcomes for his clients through settlement, summary judgment, trial and appeal. He also has significant trial experience defending and pursuing high-stakes consumer protection claims.

Steese and Marsh will be recognized in a June 2020 reception at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
