Matt Kitzi Selected as a 2013 Missouri Lawyers Weekly "Up & Coming" Lawyer
Matt Kitzi, a partner in Armstrong Teasdale’s Corporate Services and Securities Regulatory & Litigation practice groups, has been selected by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as an “Up & Coming” lawyer for 2013. Matt was selected for this recognition from a group of more than 180 nominees and is being recognized for his career, public service accomplishments and making a difference in the legal profession and community.
Matt’s public service experience, highlighted by his seven-year tenure as Missouri Commissioner of Securities, includes a long list of accomplishments and national leadership in assisting investors and working with the financial services industry in addressing the worst U.S. financial crisis in generations. His work to reach historic, national settlements of regulatory actions coupled with his deep involvement in policy matters related to the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act and the 2012 JOBS Act, gives him the unique perspective and ability to offer practical and business-oriented solutions for his clients. Matt counsels brokerage firms, investment advisers, startup companies, small businesses and national corporations in securities regulation, financial services, government affairs, corporate operations and business planning strategies.
During his term as securities commissioner, Matt held several positions with North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA.) These included chair of the NASAA Enforcement Section, National Task Force on Auction Rate Securities Investigations, and Dodd-Frank Studies Working Group. He also served on the organization’s board of directors and was awarded both NASAA’s Outstanding Service Award and its Enforcement Award. Matt also served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Missouri Council on Economic Education.
Admitted to practice in Missouri, Matt earned his J.D., with distinction, from the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law and a B.S., cum laude, in International Business from Northwest Missouri State University.
