Meshach Rhoades Named Among 2017 Top Latino Lawyers

Armstrong Teasdale, a law firm with offices across the United States, proudly announces that Litigation partner Meshach Y. Rhoades has been named among the 2017 Top Latino Lawyers in the country by Latino Leaders magazine. The annual awards program honors Latino partners based on career accomplishments and recent legal successes, as well as involvement in the Hispanic community.

“We’re very proud of Meshach’s many accomplishments in the legal field and in the Latino community,” said Jovita Foster, partner and chair of Armstrong Teasdale’s Inclusion Committee. “Her dedication to service both in Denver and on a national scale is admirable and she’s very deserving of this award.”

Rhoades is an experienced litigator in all facets of complex commercial, regulatory and telecommunications litigation. She has litigated a variety of cases regarding complex contracts, intellectual property, business torts, real estate, class actions, finance and mortgage banking litigation, and labor and employment in state and federal courts nationwide. Her clients include Fortune 100 companies, government agencies, municipalities and closely held businesses.

Serving as co-leader of the firm’s Agribusiness and Food industry team, Rhoades assists businesses in enforcement actions to ensure compliance with the Food and Drug Administration, Federal Trade Commission, United States Department of Agriculture and other regulatory bodies. She has extensive experience with federal and state dairy, energy drink and juice regulation; and counsels clients on product distribution, safety and risk management, labeling and general supply chain issues.

Rhoades is vice chair of the firm’s Inclusion Committee and serves in leadership roles for a number of professional organizations throughout the community. Rhoades is co-founder of the Latinas First Foundation, which honors unsung heroines and trailblazers in the Colorado Latina community, builds community for Hispanic women, awards scholarships to collegiate and postgraduate students and trains women on career progression. She is the chair emeritus of the Center for Legal Inclusiveness, based in Denver and has served in a number of other capacities on the board since 2008.

In addition, Rhoades has served in various capacities and as the national finance director for the Hispanic National Bar Association; gubernatorial appointee for the Colorado Counts! Committee and Colorado Department of Corrections; mayoral appointee for the Denver Latino Commission; 2011 fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity; past president of the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association; Denver Bar Association Board of Trustees member and board director; and chair of the Diversity in the Legal Profession Committee of the Colorado and Denver Bar Associations. She is currently a board member for the American Heart Association; Colorado Hispanic Chamber Foundation; Colorado Center on Law & Policy Board; Colorado Legal Services; University of Colorado Law School Alumni Board; and Florence Crittenton Services Hispanic Advisory Council. She has also served as a board member for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and Easter Seals Colorado.

In 2017, Rhoades was named among The Best Lawyers in America® for Food and Beverage Law and recognized among the 2017 Top Women Lawyers by Law Week Colorado. She is also a Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce Top 25 Most Powerful Woman Honoree, and was recognized as one of three finalists for the Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce's 2016 International ATHENA award.

Other recognitions for Rhoades include the University of Colorado Kalpana Chawla Outstanding Recent Alumni Award; the 2015 German Marshall Memorial Foundation Fellowship, in which she was one of only 15 selected from the United States to travel globally and forge international relationships and a better understanding of multiple cultures; the Denver Business Journal "40 Under 40;" Law Week Colorado "Compleat Lawyer;" Colorado Hispanic Bar Association New Lawyer of the Year; Colorado Bar Association Foundation Bar Fellow; Qwest Legal Department Diversity Committee Leadership Award; Bernbaum, Weinshienk & Eason Scholarship Recipient; and was a board member and associate editor for the Colorado Journal of Environmental Law and Policy.

Rhoades earned her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law at Boulder, where she was an Academic Diversity Scholarship recipient. She earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Regis University, where she graduated first in her class and was a scholarship basketball player. Rhoades is admitted to practice law in Colorado and before the U.S. Supreme Court. She is based in the firm’s Denver office.
