Partner Michael Engle to Lead New State Attorneys General Practice
Armstrong Teasdale Partner Michael Engle has been named leader of the firm’s newly created State Attorneys General practice, a subgroup of the firm’s robust White-Collar Criminal Defense and Government Investigations practice. In this role, reflective of his deep experience, Engle will lead a team of dozens of lawyers and professionals across disciplines who regularly advise clients in sophisticated enforcement actions involving environmental and consumer protection cases, allegations of fraud or false claims, and multistate government investigations and litigation.
Engle is a skilled trial lawyer with more than 20 years of experience handling complex criminal cases, internal investigations and compliance matters. He also handles a variety of civil litigation matters, especially the defense of False Claims Act or qui tam actions.
A fellow of the esteemed American College of Trial Lawyers, Engle regularly represents individuals, public officials and professionals, public and private companies of all sizes, nonprofits and other organizations in parallel criminal, civil or regulatory proceedings or investigations. He also routinely represents clients in connection with grand jury subpoenas and civil investigative demands (CIDs).
He is active in the professional community, serving as a Fellow of the American Board of Criminal Lawyers (ABCL); a former board member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL); former president and current white-collar practice committee co-chair for the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (PACDL); and president of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Foundation for Justice. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association’s Criminal Law Committee in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and serves as an adjunct professor at Temple University Law School.
