Following on their 2021 Digital Transformation presentation series with CRF, Armstrong Teasdale lawyers will introduce attendees to a comprehensive patchwork of security and privacy laws internationally. The presentation will discuss the enforcement of privacy laws by the government as well as self-regulation by industry leaders. Particular attention will be paid to the various regulatory and legal regimes, including guidance from the Federal Trade Commission and Department and Justice, and new statutes in California, Colorado, Utah, Canada and China. The balance of the presentation will be to discuss the measures that the regulators are taking including the substance of warning letters from the California Attorney General’s Office and workshops they have been conducting, and what credit professionals can learn from these outreach efforts.
