James A. Fredericks Joins Armstrong Teasdale’s Financial and Real Estate Services Practice
Armstrong Teasdale, a law firm with offices across the United States and in China, proudly announces the addition of Financial and Real Estate Services partner James A. Fredericks. His practice focuses on property management law including leasing, easements, sales agreements, government incentives and other real estate matters.
With more than 35 years of experience in property management law, Fredericks represents local, regional and national property management companies and owners with respect to office buildings, shopping centers, warehouses, residential and mixed-use projects. His experience includes negotiating and drafting complex commercial leases, sale agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, and broker and management agreements. He also provides legal advice regarding landlord-tenant disputes, litigation and bankruptcy.
Fredericks also represents both small and large scale real estate developers in projects involving property assemblage, title work, project financing, development agreements, zoning, and municipal development assistance including tax increment financing (TIF), transportation development districts (TDD), community improvement districts (CID), and real estate tax abatement.
He has substantial experience in orchestrating complex 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges, negotiating pipeline and other utility easements, and appealing real and personal property tax valuations.
Prior to joining Armstrong Teasdale, Fredericks was an equity shareholder for 17 years at a national law firm of over 800 attorneys, where he was also the practice group leader of the Real Estate Department for the St. Louis office for approximately 14 years. He earned his J.D. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law and B.A. in English from Saint Louis University. He is admitted to practice law in Missouri and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
Fredericks is a member of The Missouri Bar and the American Bar Association. He has held past leadership and board roles with Citizens for Modern Transit, Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), Missouri Growth Association, Epworth Foundation and the St. Louis Business Network. Fredericks is based in the firm’s St. Louis office.
