Monte Mann Speaks with Fox News and Law360 on $25 Billion Meta Verdict
Armstrong Teasdale Partner Monte Mann spoke with national media outlets following a $25 billion trial verdict in New Mexico against Facebook parent company Meta for violations of the state’s consumer protection laws.
Speaking with Fox Business, Mann said the size of the penalty highlights the potential exposure major technology companies face under state laws and that “the penalties for individual violations can add up to an extraordinary amount when you’re dealing with millions of consumers.” Jurors determined that Meta had committed more than 43 million violations under New Mexico consumer protection laws.
Mann’s commentary on the verdict also appeared in Law360, where he said he wouldn’t assume Meta will end up paying the entire $25 billion. The company has announced it will appeal the verdict.
A Chicago business trial lawyer with three decades of experience in complex commercial disputes, Monte Mann is frequently called upon by national and international media to analyze significant business litigation and its implications for companies and their leaders.
