Biography
Robert Paydon is an experienced commercial litigation/dispute resolution lawyer with more than 25 years of experience. He leads the firm’s U.K. commercial litigation practice area. Robert advises on a wide range of contentious matters, including in the pharmaceutical/life sciences, manufacturing, natural resources and property sectors.
He deals with contractual, company and shareholder disputes, as well as regulatory issues (for example, matters concerning the U.K.’s Pharmaceutical Price Regulation Schemes and advertising). Robert acts for clients from the U.K. and overseas, and much of his work has a multijurisdictional aspect.
Robert has advised on a range of insolvency issues and acts for creditors, debtors and office holders, and he is also concerned with the protection and management of corporate and individual reputations, particularly through the law of defamation, privacy and data protection.
Robert’s experience covers the full extent of the litigation process, from risk management and pre-action advice through to obtaining and resisting interim orders, trial, proceedings in the appellate courts and enforcement, as well as significant involvement in international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes, including mediation and expert determination both as party adviser and as counsel to the expert.
Robert is a recognised lawyer in the field of Commercial Litigation, most recently in the 2021 edition of the Legal 500 UK.
Background
Prior to joining Armstrong Teasdale, Robert served as head of commercial litigation at Kerman & Co. He joined Armstrong Teasdale in early 2021 when the firm combined with Kerman & Co. Before that, he worked in private practice for a number of other London law firms, including as the head of litigation for the U.K. office of a leading Canadian law firm.
