Biography
Teresa Arroyo is an independent contractor in Armstrong Teasdale’s Intellectual Property practice. Teresa started her career as a systems engineer for a federal aviation contractor. She has more than 20 years of experience working for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as both a patent examiner and supervisory patent examiner. She also has prior experience in private practice that lends to her incredible depth of experience involving semiconductors, memory, circuits, printing, optics, materials engineering, computer architecture, communications, mechanical engineering, medical devices and design.
Skilled across intellectual property disciplines, from patent to trademark and copyright, Teresa has broad experience including preparation, prosecution and provision of legal opinions, litigation support and representation of clients before the USPTO.
Teresa has experience facilitating the protection of clients' rights, from initial intellectual property patentability searches and opinions, to filing intellectual property applications through the strategic facilitation of intellectual property issuance. She has counseled both domestic and foreign clients on U.S. patent practice and procedures, applying her extensive knowledge of electrical, mechanical and chemical devices, and designs. This includes experience involving semiconductors and packages, liquid crystal displays, printed circuit boards, lasers and other radiant energy, injection molding, automotive electronics and parts, vehicle navigation systems, wireless communication systems, printers, monitors and laminate flooring.

Background
Prior to joining Armstrong Teasdale, Teresa was a patent examiner at the USPTO. She has served in that role, and as a supervisory patent examiner, in two separate stints with the USPTO over the past three decades.
Teresa also spent eight years in private practice at various law firms in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, where she focused on intellectual property handling all aspects of patent, copyright and trademark law. Teresa has also represented clients in family law, real estate, probate, sports and entertainment matters.
She also has a long career with the United States Army and has served a number of active duty tours, most recently with the United States Army Central Command in support of the area of operations in the Arabian Gulf. She is currently an officer in the Army Reserves with the Defense Logistics Agency where she helps to integrate and synchronize enterprise operations in the United States Central Command and United States Special Operations Command areas of responsibility.
