Steve Yu is an investment and trade lawyer based in China. With more than 15 years of experience, he handles cross-border transactions and international investment relating to China. His practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, technology licensing, international joint venture, franchising, business consolidation and restructuring.

Steve advises European, American and Asian corporations on investment projects in a wide range of industrial sectors, including retail and franchise, fashion and luxury goods, industrial manufacturing food and beverage, high-tech, telecommunication, media, e-commerce, automotive, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, architecture, hotel and real property. He also guides Chinese state-owned companies and privately owned companies on their outbound investment projects.

Steve negotiates international joint venture projects for western clients across industrial sectors. He also counsels on joint venture related restructuring, buy-out, re-capitalization, asset swap and shareholder disputes.

In addition to his corporate practice, Steve assists on cross-border intellectual property licensing, establishment and operation of research and development centers, commercialization of intellectual property rights, and enforcement by civil and criminal actions.

One of the earliest Chinese lawyers advising western clients on China’s emerging anti-trust law, Steve was individually recognized in "Country Survey - China Competition Practice" by Global Competition Review (2009).

He is a member of the supervisory board of two British-invested companies in China.
