Dismissal of a Class Action Lawsuit after a Successful Writ in the Missouri Supreme Court
Represented Jackson County in a class action lawsuit seeking damages related to a County property tax reassessment process. After a denial of a motion to dismiss by the Trial Court, a writ was filed in the Missouri Supreme Court. Oral arguments were submitted to the Missouri Supreme Court. In a unanimous opinion, the Missouri Supreme Court unanimously granted the writ and dismissed the class action lawsuit against the County.
Dismissal of a Fair Housing Act Lawsuit
Represented Jackson County in an FHA lawsuit filed by the ACLU that was dismissed by trial court after oral argument. Additionally, successfully represented the County in appellate stages.
Successfully Obtained Temporary Restraining Order and Preliminary Injunction
Represented Jackson County in a contested hearing that resulted in the enforcement of a County Health Order.
Served as Lead Counsel in the Jackson County Merit System Commission Process
Successfully represented the County management officials in challenges to decisions for terminations of County employees through the Jackson County Merit System Commission.
