BTI Client Service All-Stars 2017 Recognizes Two Armstrong Teasdale Partners
Armstrong Teasdale Corporate Services partner Michael S. Jefferies and Litigation partner Edward R. Spalty were named 2017 BTI Client Service All-Stars. More than 300 attorneys earned recognition nationwide this year from clients, including leading general counsel and legal decision makers, for their performances.
Jefferies, who was listed by BTI in 2016 as well, was noted as an MVP in 2017. He represents clients across multiple industries on matters related to business operations and growth. His practice is primarily focused on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other corporate development transactions, counseling public and private companies through all phases of the purchase and sale of businesses and assets. In addition to his M&A practice, Jefferies also provides advice on general corporate, commercial contract, real estate and loan matters.
At Armstrong Teasdale, Jefferies serves as chair of the firm’s Technology Committee and a member of the firm’s Opinion Letter, Technology, Alumni and Wellness Committees. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law and B.A. in political science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Jefferies is admitted to practice law in Missouri and Illinois, and is based in the firm’s St. Louis office.
Spalty was nominated for his business litigation work, and his practice focuses primarily on franchise and complex business litigation including intellectual property, noncompete and trade secret disputes. He previously served as managing partner of the Kansas City office and chair of the Antitrust, Franchise and Distribution practice group. Spalty represents startup and established franchisors—most often in the hotel and real estate brokerage industries—in all legal issues that develop in licensed networks. He is national counsel for two of the world’s largest franchisors and represents 25 of the most famous 200 brands.
He earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School and B.A. from Emory University. Spalty is admitted to practice law in Missouri and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth, Ninth and Tenth Circuits. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and several federal courts including the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado and Western District of Missouri. Spalty is based in the firm’s Kansas City Office.
