U.S. Pat. No. 8,216,362: Assigned to St. Peters-based silicon wafer maker and solar energy company MEMC Electronic Materials, this patent involves the preparation of semiconductor grade single-crystal silicon used in the manufacture of electronic components. The patent, which is associated with MEMC’s Perfect Silicon brand, relates to a process for preparing single-crystal silicon ingots that are free of agglomerated intrinsic point defects, as are the wafers obtained from them.
