Katie Doherty Earns Pro Bono Women’s Justice Award
Katie Doherty, a senior associate in Armstrong Teasdale’s Litigation practice group, has been recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly with a Women’s Justice Award in the Pro Bono category. Doherty will be recognized along with other honorees at a reception April 10.
The Women’s Justice Awards recognize women across Missouri who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, service, sacrifice and accomplishment in improving the quality of justice and exemplifying the highest ideals of the legal profession. Honorees come from across the legal community, including the bar, the bench, public office, business, academia, nonprofits and the state at large.
Doherty tirelessly serves the community through active involvement in civic and charitable organizations. She personally takes on a significant amount of pro bono work, much of which involves low-income households needing assistance and immigrants seeking asylum. She also billed the most pro bono hours at her previous firm.
Doherty is a volunteer attorney for Legal Services of Eastern Missouri and a member of its Young Friends Board. She also provides pro bono assistance to other local public interest groups, such as assisting immigrant clients with asylum applications and power of attorney documentation and assisting LGBTQ+ individuals with changing their names. In addition to taking on individual pro bono cases, she is the 2024-25 Chair of the Women in the Legal Profession Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, serves on the CASA of St. Louis Young Professionals Board and the St. Louis Zoo Young Professionals Advisory Board, and participates in the 1L Mentoring Program for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity.
