Immigration

Armstrong Teasdale’s Immigration practice group understands the importance of providing exceptional immigration services to our corporate clients. A company’s most valuable resource is its employees, and more often than not, its largest investment is in these workers. The Immigration practice group protects this investment by securing nonimmigrant and permanent residence status for our clients’ foreign employees, without disrupting their businesses. Our team provides this exceptional legal representation without sacrificing the one-on-one personal service our clients deserve.

The Immigration practice group represents domestic and international corporate clients in a wide array of immigration related issues, including planning for and obtaining nonimmigrant or permanent residence status for corporate clients’ foreign employees. For example, our lawyers assist corporate clients in obtaining temporary nonimmigrant work visas such as:

  • Specialty Occupation (H-1B) (H-1B1) (E-3)
  • Intra-Company Transferees (L)
  • Visas pursuant to the North American Free Trade Agreement (TN)
  • Treaty-Trader (E)
  • Trainees (H3)

In addition, members of the group have extensive experience in obtaining U.S. permanent residence status for corporate clients on behalf of their employees by obtaining labor certification or petitioning the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS” formerly, the Immigration and Naturalization Service) to classify individuals as either outstanding researchers, individuals with extraordinary ability, or as multinational executives or managers.

We also represent corporate clients on workplace compliance issues, including I-9 issues as well as audits conducted by the Department of Labor or the USCIS. The Immigration practice group also assists corporate clients involved in mergers and acquisitions to ensure that the foreign employees involved in a corporate reorganization maintain their immigration status.

Through Armstrong Teasdale’s membership in Lex Mundi, our team also is able to assist corporate clients on a variety of outbound immigration matters. Lex Mundi is an organization of independent law firms providing for the exchange of professional information about the local and global practice and development of law. We work with local counsel to help corporate clients seeking to transfer abroad employees who are either United States citizens or citizens of other countries residing in the United States by securing appropriate work and travel documents.

In addition, our immigration lawyers provide services to individuals on a variety of issues pertaining to permanent residence status through the marriage to a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident. We also assist individuals in obtaining fiancé visas, travel documents, work authorization documents, and naturalization and citizenship processing.

Our immigration team and other Armstrong Teasdale lawyers are able to provide bilingual services in Spanish, Chinese, and French.
