Immigration Counsel for Private, Mid-Sized Research University
Serve as immigration counsel to a mid-sized private research university, advising the Office of the General Counsel and academic departments on the sponsorship of international faculty and researchers for both temporary work authorization and permanent residence. Developed immigration strategies, preparing and filing H-1B, EB-1B Outstanding Researcher, and EB-2 petitions, monitoring immigration status expirations, and managing filings before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Advise on evolving immigration requirements, compliance best practices, and responses to Requests for Evidence (RFEs). Assisted client in recruiting and retaining highly qualified international talent, secured long-term work authorization for key faculty and researchers, and filled critical academic and research positions in a competitive hiring environment.
$7.5 Million Acquisition of Oil and Gas Equipment Manufacturer
Represented the buyer, an engineering consulting firm and leading provider of prefabricated and preassembled systems, in its $7.5 million acquisition of a company primarily engaged in the design, fabrication, installation, calibration and supply of production equipment and services in the oil and gas industry. The acquisition enabled the client to expand its service offerings and bring certain services in-house.
