Biography
John DeStefano is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. Leveraging his background in electrical engineering, he supports firm clients in safeguarding their inventions.
John drafts and prosecutes domestic and international patent applications, conducts patent searches, and communicates them with inventors to guide innovation and align with clients’ goals. He ensures compliance in patent licensing and research agreements, strategizes with inventors and stakeholders to identify and separate trade secret information from public disclosure in patent applications, and analyzes patent infringement for litigators. John leverages extensive patent analytics to guide his practice and provide data-supported insights to clients.
John's experience spans various industries, including software, aerospace, unmanned systems and mechanical devices. He has built robust international patent portfolios, developed process for complying with federal contracting requirements, and secured intellectual property rights for inventors.
