Biography
Matt Turner is a trial attorney practicing civil litigation with an emphasis on class action defense, securities arbitration, insurance litigation, complex commercial disputes, administrative law and appeals.
Class Actions
Matt regularly defends companies against class action lawsuits alleging unfair trade practices, sales tax overcollection, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, Missouri Merchandising Practices Act (MMPA) violations, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) claims and other state and federal violations. His clients in this area include major national retailers, credit reporting agencies, staffing companies, insurance companies, financial institutions, cable service providers and food producers, among others.
Administrative Law/Professional Licensing
Based in the state capital, Matt represents clients in matters involving administrative agencies and government officials, including the Missouri Attorney General, Missouri Dental Board, Board of Nursing, Missouri Board of Registration for the Healing Arts, MO HealthNet, Missouri Board of Nursing Home Administrators, Department of Revenue, the Missouri Public Service Commission and the Administrative Hearing Commission. He often assists licensed professionals in disciplinary and other matters that put their license to practice at risk. Matt’s experience extends to representing Medicaid providers faced with recoupment claims and proceedings before the federal Departmental Appeals Board relating to provider enrollment in Medicare.
Insurance
Matt serves insurance companies in coverage assessments and interpleader actions as well as the defense of personal injury, premises liability, wrongful death, toxic tort, general liability, errors and omissions and professional liability claims. He also prosecutes and defends claims involving insurance receiverships and other proceedings involving the Missouri Department of Insurance, including market conduct examinations.
Commercial Litigation
For companies of all sizes, Matt manages diverse types of litigation, including real estate disputes, environmental claims, FINRA securities claims, FDIC litigation, food product contamination and public contract bid disputes. He also serves as local counsel for many companies and law firms involved with cases in Missouri.
Medicaid Fraud
Matt counsels and defends health care professionals when they are investigated or accused of Medicaid fraud.
Appeals
Matt litigates cases at all levels, including on appeal before state and federal appellate courts, in Missouri as well as other federal and state jurisdictions.

Background
After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Baylor University, Matt worked for three years as a commercial assistant for a prestigious import-export firm based in Paris, France, where he perfected his French language skills and gained experience in international business.
After graduating from the University of Missouri—Columbia School of Law and before joining Armstrong Teasdale in 2000, Matt was an associate in the Paris, France office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he worked in the areas of international construction, project finance and international arbitration.
