Armstrong Teasdale Names Calvin Matthews as Practice Group Leader for Corporate Services Group
National law firm Armstrong Teasdale has announced Partner E. Calvin Matthews IV will assume the role of Practice Group Leader for the firm’s Corporate Services group, effective July 1, 2025. Jennifer Byrne, who has led the group since 2020, will return full-time to her role as Partner to meet increasing client demand. Both attorneys are based in the firm’s St. Louis, Missouri headquarters.
Matthews is a trusted advisor to private equity groups, high-net-worth owner-operators and corporate boards, with deep experience in acquisitions, dispositions, governance, risk management and litigation strategies. He regularly serves as outside counsel to CEOs and senior executives, advising on complex deals and regulatory compliance. He has been with Armstrong Teasdale since 2014.
As Practice Group Leader, Matthews will work closely with the firm’s Executive Committee to guide strategic planning and execution within the Corporate Services group. He joins a leadership team that also includes Matthew J. Reh and James M. Heinen, Jr., leading the Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property groups, respectively.
“I am deeply honored by the trust my colleagues have placed in me,” Matthews said. “It is an exciting time at Armstrong Teasdale, and I’m eager to help advance our mission of delivering outstanding service to our clients.”
Byrne, who has been with Armstrong Teasdale since 2012, said, “Leading the Corporate Services Practice Group has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made and am ready to dedicate my full focus to my clients and expanding practice. I look forward to supporting Calvin in his new leadership role.”
Byrne focuses her legal practice on mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate finance, emerging companies and corporate governance across industry sectors.
“I am grateful to Jennifer for her years of outstanding service as Practice Group Leader and know she will continue to thrive as she returns to her full-time practice,” said Richard Engel, Managing Partner. “Calvin’s assumption of this role represents a natural progression for his career and his dedication to Armstrong Teasdale. I am excited to see him step into this leadership role and optimistic for how this change will continue Jennifer’s great work to position the Corporate Services group for long-term success.”
