Armstrong Teasdale Announces 15 New Equity, Income Partners
Armstrong Teasdale proudly announces that six lawyers have been named income partners of the firm effective Jan. 1, 2023. In addition, nine partners have been elected to the firm’s equity partnership. The group is comprised of lawyers across all of the firm’s core practice groups and located across markets including Florida, New York, Missouri, Utah and Pennsylvania.
The nine equity partners include Ted Behm, Erin Edelman, Gregory Iken, Jason Mandel, Peter Massa, Rick McConnell, Brennan Moss, Bryan Nicholson and Julie Schechter. In addition, the six lawyers named income partners include Paul Brusati, Angela Kennedy, Rob Mahon, Margaret Mudd, Nicole Planell and Jared Walsh.

Behm (Philadelphia) has substantial experience in all aspects of IP practice. His broad knowledge includes the preparation and prosecution, litigation and counseling on domestic and foreign patents, trademarks and copyrights. Behm has litigated in over a dozen jurisdictions, including various appellate courts, and focuses on developing pre-litigation strategies to ensure the goals of the client are met.
Edelman (St. Louis) is a litigator in the firm’s Financial and Real Estate Services practice group. She leads the Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy practice and counsels clients in bankruptcy, commercial and real estate litigation matters. In the business insolvency area, Edelman represents the interests of debtors, secured lenders and unsecured creditors seeking to maximize their return through bankruptcy or out-of-court restructuring.
Iken (St. Louis) is a litigator in the firm’s Mass Tort and Catastrophic Loss practice area. With over 20 years of experience, Iken focuses on toxic torts, product liability and asbestos defense. Most of his cases are located in Illinois and Missouri, but he has been involved in asbestos litigation across the country in both state and federal court, representing both Fortune 500 companies and family-owned businesses. He has managed and handled every aspect of thousands of asbestos cases while earning a national reputation in the field.
Mandel (Philadelphia) is a skilled lawyer in the firm’s Financial and Real Estate Services practice group with more than 20 years of diverse transactional experience. In his transactional practice, Mandel focuses on the areas of commercial real estate, financial services, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, venture formation, construction and general business representation.
Massa (New York) is a seasoned lawyer with significant experience counseling condominium and cooperative board clients on a range of sophisticated issues including contract negotiations, corporate governance, collections and quality of life. For new buildings, he seamlessly manages the transition from developer to unit owner control. Peter acts as general counsel for co-ops and condos and also represents individuals in various real estate transactions.
McConnell (Kansas City) is the firm’s Public Finance practice area leader. He primarily serves as bond, disclosure, tax and special counsel to cities, counties, conduit issuers and special purpose districts. McConnell has significant experience in all tax-exempt and taxable forms of public finance offerings, including general obligation bonds, revenue bonds, various forms of lease/purchase financing, tax increment financing and tax abatement.
Moss (Salt Lake City) is a skilled cross-discipline lawyer with experience spanning the corporate, real estate, litigation and white-collar defense areas. He primarily counsels clients related to commercial litigation, real property, securities and regulatory issues. Moss has represented Fortune 500 and Inc. 500 companies, as well as local, small and medium-sized businesses, contractors and individuals.
Nicholson (St. Louis) is a partner in the firm's Tort and Catastrophic Loss practice area. He focuses on environmental exposures such as asbestos/talc, benzene, lead and silica. Nicholson manages all facets of litigation in the defense of toxic/mass tort personal injury claims for his clients. That focus over the last 21 years has allowed him the privilege of defending thousands of toxic/mass tort cases in Illinois and Missouri, as well as other jurisdictions.
Schechter (New York) has more than a decade of broad real estate experience with a focus on condominium and cooperative law. She acts as general counsel to cooperative and condominium boards and regularly provides legal advice and guidance on corporate governance matters, negotiates and prepares contracts for major capital improvements, and drafts and reviews proprietary leases, bylaws and house rules and assists boards in enforcing such documents.
Brusati (St. Louis) is an accomplished commercial and appellate litigator, with experience at every level of the Missouri appellate courts and the federal circuits. He joined the firm in 2016 after clerking for Judge Laura Denvir Stith at the Supreme Court of Missouri. Brusati has briefed and argued dozens of appeals in state and federal court, including the Supreme Court of Missouri, the Missouri Court of Appeals and the federal appellate courts. His appellate experience ranges from cases involving employment, products liability, tax, medical malpractice, family law, personal injury, real estate and insurance issues, to felony criminal appeals.
Kennedy (St. Louis) has extensive experience working on cases at all stages of litigation, from pre-suit negotiations to appeals. She frequently handles trademark and copyright disputes, vindicating the rights of small business and large companies alike. In addition, she litigates a wide range of disputes in both state and federal courts, including business torts, matters involving noncompete and nonsolicitation clauses, contract disputes, and insurance and securities litigation.
Mahon (St. Louis) focuses primarily on mergers and acquisitions, commercial transactions and outside corporate counsel services. He regularly assists clients of all sizes with commercial, finance and real estate transactions; mergers, acquisitions and restructurings; and corporate governance and compliance. Mahon often serves as lead counsel to companies acquiring businesses, handling all aspects of the acquisition from initial proposal to post-closing.
Mudd (St. Louis) focuses her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities and general business matters across a broad range of industries, including the energy industry. Whether working in tandem with a client’s dedicated legal team or directly with entrepreneurs facing a sale process for the first time in their professional lives, Mudd works closely with clients to prioritize their individual goals, timelines and needs.
Planell (Miami) is an associate in the Litigation practice group, where she focuses in the areas of commercial litigation, construction defects and professional liability matters. She has a demonstrated history of managing complex civil litigation cases in the areas of real estate and insurance defense law, including title claims, code compliance, consumer lending practices, construction defects, indemnity claims, professional malpractice, premises liability and general liability claims.
Walsh (St. Louis) is a former U.S. Marine Corps captain and seasoned military trial lawyer with over a dozen successful jury verdicts. He is familiar with all aspects of litigation having clerked for a federal magistrate judge, federal district judge, and a panel of judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
