Armstrong Teasdale Welcomes Data Privacy Lawyer Ashfin Islam in Boston
Armstrong Teasdale announces that Associate Ashfin Islam has joined the firm’s Litigation practice group in Boston. He joins a roster of more than 750 lawyers and staff professionals across Armstrong Teasdale’s 16 offices internationally.
As a certified information privacy professional (CIPP/US), Islam works with clients to ensure compliance with state data privacy legislation and to review initiatives for compliance with state, federal and international privacy laws, including the E.U. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA). He also provides assurance, tax and advisory services to federal government entities, financial institutions, law firms, hospitals, universities and nonprofits.
Islam advises clients on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Sarbanes-Oxley, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), securities, antitrust, consumer protection, student loan protection, tax and financial/donor reporting requirements for nonprofits, and other rules.
He is also experienced in contract negotiation and administration, as well as startup fundraising, and has experience serving clients in the renewable energy and cannabis industries.
